Samba is Brazil's national intangible cultural heritage and an important form of Brazilian culture. In recent years, with the development of new media communication technology, the inheritance and promotion of samba dance has also shown a new trend. Based on the theory of innovation and diffusion, this paper studies the new media communication of Brazil's intangible cultural heritage samba. This study adopts the quantitative research method and conducts a questionnaire survey on the new media dissemination of samba dance. The study found that the most used new media social platforms in Brazil are Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, etc. After the audience obtains samba-related information through these new media platforms, the number of people who use new media to spread knowledge about samba dance accounts for a high proportion, and some audiences will actively share samba dance with others to achieve the effect of secondary communication. Secondly, the audience believes that the new media communication samba is more efficient and more influential than the traditional communication methods. At the same time, the new media communication of samba has the main body of communication and the fragmentation of content (audience needs for short and fast communication content, while the content is more prominent with attractive titles, diverse pictures and concise content), and the communication channels are diversified (websites, short videos, live broadcast platforms and other communication channels help communicators choose suitable communication channels according to the content of communication) and the characteristics of younger audiences (young people are often curious about unknown new things, so they are exposed to new media communication). The significance of this study is to study the current situation of samba development and how samba dance can be disseminated through new media to promote better inheritance and development of Brazilian samba dance, and provide a thinking path for the creative activation and industrial development of intangible cultural heritage.
