With the rapid development of socio-economic and information technology, individuals are under increasing pressure, and the problems of low psychological endurance and loneliness among adolescents are becoming more and more prominent. Junior high school students are at the time of "physical and mental fusion", which brings a variety of developmental possibilities. It is a dangerous period of development, but at the same time, it is inevitably a critical period for education. As the successor of the country's development, we need to pay attention to the mental health of junior high school students. Therefore, this paper explores the relationship between these three variables from the perspective of perceiving social support, psychological endurance, and emotional loneliness.
Three questionnaires, the Appreciative Social Support Scale, the Adolescent Psychological Endurance Scale, and the Sense of Loneliness Scale, were distributed to 600 junior high school students (200 per grade) from the first to the third years of a junior high school in Zhuhai City, China, and then the data were analysed using software such as SPSS26.0 and AMOS23.0, to explore the perceptions and experiences of the Appreciative Social Support, the Emotional Loneliness Scale, and the Psychological Endurance Scale, and to examine the relationships among these three variables in the context of demographic variables such as gender and age. The data were analysed to explore the effect of mediation between perceptions and experiences of perceived social support, emotional loneliness and psychological endurance on demographic variables such as gender and grade level, as well as the correlation between these three variables. The following conclusions were drawn:
1. There was no obvious difference between male and female junior high school students in terms of perceptual social support; there was a significant difference between junior high school students' perceptual social support and the other supports of the factor in terms of grade level, and the mean value increased with the increase of grade level.
2. There is a significant difference in the emotional loneliness of junior high school students in terms of gender and grade level. Girls' emotional loneliness scores are higher than boys' scores; junior high school students' emotional loneliness levels show a decreasing trend with the increase of grade level.
3. There were significant differences in the scores of psychological endurance and control, attribution of cause and responsibility, scope of influence, and duration among junior high school students in terms of gender and grade level (p<0.05), with the scores of psychological endurance and control, attribution of cause and responsibility, scope of influence, and duration being higher for male students than for female students.
4. After in-depth investigation, we found that there was a close association between junior high school students' perceptions of social support, emotional loneliness and psychological endurance. Specifically, there was a significant positive correlation between junior high school students' understanding of social support and their psychological endurance. This suggests that students who are better able to understand and feel the support from the community tend to have stronger psychological endurance and are better able to cope with the setbacks and difficulties in life. Meanwhile, we also found that there was a significant negative correlation between junior high school students' appreciation of social support and their emotional loneliness. This means that students who were able to fully appreciate social support were more emotionally fulfilled and satisfied, and felt less loneliness. In addition, the study also found a significant negative relationship between emotional loneliness and psychological endurance among junior high school students. This suggests that students with a stronger sense of emotional loneliness have a weaker psychological endurance, and may be more likely to feel helpless and depressed in the face of setbacks.
5. Emotional loneliness mediates the relationship between perceived social support and psychological endurance.
